Rusks for Tea Tables, Meetings and Celebrations

Event orders work well when you need something that is easy to serve, easy to stock up, and suited to a wide range of guests. Our rusks are packed for practical use at breakfasts, conference tea breaks, church functions, memorial teas, bridal showers, birthday weekends and staff meetings. They pair well with tea, coffee and hot chocolate, and they hold up well on a table throughout a long morning.

We supply home-style buttermilk rusks and muesli rusks in formats that suit small gatherings as well as larger functions. A 200 g pack suits a few guests or a gift table, while bigger orders can be combined into hampers or mixed cartons. If you are planning an event in Paarl, Wellington, Stellenbosch, Somerset West or further afield, we can help you match the order to the number of people you expect, with a little buffer for extra cups poured and the unexpected visitor.

What Is Included in an Event Order

Every event order is packed for straightforward serving and transport. You can order plain packs, mixed selections, sample boxes for smaller groups, or custom hampers for VIP tables and thank-you gifts. For hospitality settings, we also supply larger quantities for breakfast stations, boardrooms and guest lounges. Orders can be built around one flavour or a mixed split between buttermilk and muesli, depending on the crowd and the kind of occasion.

  • Choice of buttermilk rusks, muesli rusks, or a mixed order
  • Retail packs for tables, gift bags and tea stations
  • Bulk cartons for caterers, venues and organisers
  • Custom hampers for weddings, launches and appreciation gifts
  • Sample boxes for taste testing before larger runs
  • Nationwide delivery from our Paarl base

We keep the process practical. If your venue has a serving table, a pantry cupboard or a conference setup with fixed break times, we can advise on quantities and pack combinations so you are not left short. The rusks store neatly, and they are easy to portion out without special equipment.

How the Ordering Process Works

The ordering process is simple and suited to both one-off events and repeat functions. Start by sending your event date, venue town, guest count and preferred flavour mix to bakery@rusk.co.za. If you are not sure how much to order, we can estimate based on the type of function, the length of the event and whether rusks are the only snack or part of a larger spread.

  1. Send your event details and quantity estimate
  2. Choose flavours, pack sizes and any hamper requirements
  3. We confirm stock, pricing and delivery timing
  4. Your order is packed and dispatched for the agreed date

For corporate events and hospitality supply, repeat orders can be set up around your calendar so you do not need to brief us from scratch each time. That is useful for monthly meetings, end-of-quarter sessions, school fundraisers and seasonal celebrations. If your event changes by a few guests either way, let us know as soon as you can and we will do our best to adjust.

Turnaround Times and Delivery Planning

Most event orders should be placed with enough lead time to allow packing, routing and delivery to your area. For smaller quantities in the Western Cape, a shorter turnaround may be possible. For larger functions, custom hampers or orders going to outlying areas, it is safer to allow a few extra days. We also plan around load-shedding and courier schedules so your order is not caught by a last-minute delay.

For Paarl, Wellington, Franschhoek, Stellenbosch, Somerset West and Durbanville stockist areas, collection or local delivery may be arranged depending on the order. Nationwide deliveries are handled to suit the event date, and we recommend confirming earlier if your function falls near month-end, school holidays or long weekends. Coastal humidity can also affect storage once the order arrives, so keep packs sealed until just before serving.

  • Small event orders: allow a short lead time where stock is available
  • Custom hampers and branded mixes: allow extra time for packing
  • Large hospitality or fundraiser orders: book well ahead of the event
  • Keep packs in a cool, dry place until use

Pricing That Fits the Size of the Function

Pricing depends on the number of packs, the flavour mix, the packaging format and the delivery destination. A small tea table order is priced very differently from a bulk hospitality run or a custom hamper package, so we quote to the actual brief instead of forcing a fixed one-size-fits-all price. That gives you clearer control over the spend per guest or per table.

For event planners, caterers and businesses, we can work on a per-pack or per-carton basis. If you are preparing a fundraiser, school event or church function, we can also help you work out a selling price that leaves margin for your group. For corporate gifting, a mixed hamper often costs more per unit because of the presentation, but it gives a more finished look for client tables or staff appreciation. The best way to get an accurate figure is to send the quantity and delivery town, then we will quote clearly.

Storage, Top-Ups and Serving Intervals

Rusks are a practical choice for events because they can be put out in batches instead of all at once. For a long meeting or a breakfast function, it is often best to top up the serving table every 45 to 60 minutes, especially when there are many coffee drinkers. On a tea table with light traffic, one opening may be enough for the full session. For larger venues, it helps to keep reserve packs in a nearby cupboard or service area so refills are quick.

Store unopened packs away from heat, direct sun and damp storage rooms. In summer, especially in coastal or humid areas, avoid leaving boxes near a kitchen door or under a window. If your event runs over a full day, keep the reserve stock sealed until needed. This keeps the rusks fresh, crisp and ready to serve, even if the weather turns warm. A simple serving tray, tongs or a lined basket is usually enough, no special setup required.

  • Open only the packs needed for the current serving period
  • Keep reserve stock sealed until top-up time
  • Use dry containers or baskets for display
  • Avoid leaving stock near steam, ovens or wet cleaning areas

What clients say

Questions we get asked

How far ahead should I place an event order?

Small orders may be arranged on shorter notice if stock is available, but it is better to book early for weddings, corporate functions and large groups. Custom hampers and bulk hospitality orders need more lead time.

Can I mix buttermilk and muesli rusks in one order?

Yes. Mixed event orders are common, and they work well when you want to give guests a choice or cater for different tastes at the same table.

Do you deliver outside the Western Cape?

Yes. We deliver nationwide, with packing and dispatch arranged around your event date and delivery area.
